The short circuit caused by the chip displacement or the workpiece deformation has occurred frequently in WEDM, especially in the processing of thicker workpiece.
In operation, It’s available to eliminate short circuit by infiltration cleaning with solvent, the specific method is: when the short circuit occurs, first turn off the switch of automatic and frequency, then turn off the working liquid pump, and use a brush with gasoline, kerosene, ethanol and other strong solvent to repeatedly penetrate into the slit along the movement of the wire (should pay attention to the direction of movement of the wire). Unit the electrode wire at the top of the workpiece can move when gently touching the molybdenum wire along the opposite direction of processing at the bottom of the workpiece by using screwdriver or other tools. Then, open the working fluid pump and high-frequency power supply, and rely on the molybdenum wire itself to restore the discharge, continue processing.
